Zdravetz essential oil /Geranium macrorrhizum/ – True Geranium
/GERANIUM MACRORRHIZUM/
Zdravetz essential oil is obtained through steam distillation of the Geranium Macrorhizum plant. Zdravetz is a small, perennial plant (in the geranium family) which grows on rocky soil at high and medium altitudes in Bulgaria. The word ‘zdravetz’ means ‘health’ in Bulgarian and this herb has a lot of traditional medicinal and symbolic use in Bulgarian culture.
Zdravetz essential oil is believed to have antiseptic and regenerating properties when applied to the skin. Therefore, it is suitable for oily, combination skin, and acne prone skin , as well as for skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
Used in aromatherapy, this essential oil creates a positive atmosphere and boosts energy levels.
Zdravetz essential oil has herbal and sweet-woody aroma with hints of rose and spice. It is cherished in perfumery because of its unique scent and for its excellent fixative quality. Zdravets should not be confused with geranium oils from the botanical family Pelargonium. These two do not share a similar aroma.
Zdravetz essential oil goes well with rose, lavender, chamomile, geranium, juniper, ylang-ylang and all citrus oils.
Zdravetz essential oil crystallizes at below room temperature. Before use, it is necessary to warm in a water bath to return it to a liquid state. Once mixed with base vegetable oil, geranium essential oil will not crystallize.
Suggested use
Add Zdravetz essential oil to your face moisturizer to experience its cleansing properties, especially if you have combination or oily skin prone to forming comedones and acne. It will also have beneficial effect on pigmented skin.
Diffuse Zdravetz essential oil when you want to create a romantic atmosphere as it is known as a natural aphrodisiac.
